UPDATE: Ultralight Plane Crashes in Greenfield

A man was not hurt after an ultralight plane crashed shortly after takeoff at the South Shore Regional Airport in Queens County

The incident happened around 12:00 this afternoon in Greenfield.

The South Shore Flying Club manages the airport.

President Glenn Parlee says the pilot was testing a newer style ultralight plane and had engine trouble when he landed into trees heading towards Bangs Falls.

The man was able to climb down the tree to safety.

Firefighters from Greenfield, North Queens and Liverpool responded to the call.

The cause of the crash is being investigated by the RCMP, the Transportation Safety Board and Transport Canada.
