UPDATED: Bridgewater Police Investigating Complaint At High School

Police are investigating after a complaint about questionable images found on electronic devices at Bridgewater Junior-Senior High School.

The complaint was made to Bridgewater Police on May 12.

A number of devices have been seized – however – Chief John Collyer wouldn’t confirm how many.

He also can’t say what kind of images are involved.

“We have some allegations, we have some statements from some of the individuals involved telling us there may be something illegal on the phone.”

No charges have been laid.

Bridgewater Police will hand over the electronics to the RCMP for forensic evaluation.

Meanwhile, the Superintendent of the South Shore Regional School Board says nine students have been suspended.

Geoff Cainen says they are all boys at Bridgewater Junior-Senior High School.

He says the length of a suspension can change.

“Suspensions vary anywhere from one day to five days depending on what the principal believes how disruptive the incident was for those involved.”

Cainen says no one from the school board has seen the pictures.

He says information will be sent home to parents this week.

Cainen says it’s evident that they need to further educate students on how to properly use technology.

He hopes parents will also talk with their kids.
