Vessel Sinks In Bridgewater

It wasn’t what they expected to find.
Bridgewater firefighters responded to a possible oil spill at the marina on Saturday and found a sunken vessel instead.
Netting was immediately put out to catch any residual oil and the Coast Guard was called.
Senior Response Officer Keith Laidlaw says it was a fairly minor incident that should be quickly cleaned up.
“The dock manager put boom around the vessel last night and we put out additional boom to try to catch any residuals coming out of the vessel.”
Laidlaw says they do not believe the 40 foot wooden sailboat was carrying any oil on board.
The owner hopes to have the boat out of the water by the end of day.
