VIDEO: Bridgewater’s Lane Reacts To QMJHL Draft Selection

Like many teenagers, Aaron Lane was busy working this weekend after putting in the usual classroom time Monday to Friday at Park View Education Centre.

The 15 year-old was in the middle of his work day Saturday at Sobeys in Bridgewater when his cell phone started buzzing.

Friends and family were texting and calling to congratulate him after he was drafted in the 12th round of the QMJHL draft by Drummondville.

Lane says it was a special moment.

“I was really excited. I was really anxious to get home and celebrate with my family, but I still had to finish my shift and work until 9 p.m.”

Lane had to wait until his shift was over before returning a call to a member of the Drummondville organization, who reached out to say they were excited to draft him and see him at training camp in August.

Lane says being a late draft pick is motivation to work hard ahead of training camp in August.

“When we come to camp, we’re all on a level playing field. My goal is to leave a positive impact on the Drummondville organization that they made the right decision to pick me.”

Lane says he’s proud and honoured to be drafted and wants to thank people for reaching out and congratulating him.

The defenceman for the UPS Store South Shore Mustangs feels he needs to get stronger, faster and improve his shot if he’s going to make Drummondville in the upcoming season.
