VIDEO: Bus Drivers Recognized For Saving Co-Workers Life

A Liverpool school bus driver is lucky to be alive thanks to coworkers and paramedics.

Joanne Ozon was driving on September 16 when she was stung by a bee and went into anaphylactic shock.

She managed to radio for help – Bill Sarty and Devin Whynot responded quickly to her aid.

Sarty administered CPR twice to help keep Ozon alive before paramedics arrived and injected Ozon with an Epipen.

He doesn’t consider himself a hero.

“But I can understand when you save someone’s life, that person probably looks at you a little different. But, I’d do it again and I credit the training.”

Meanwhile, Ozon says she’s grateful.

“We go through training for CPR and first aid thinking that we’re going to use it on a student, never do we think we are going to use it on a co-worker.”

Sarty and Whynot were recognized recently by the South Shore Regional School Board.
