Excitement is building as junior hockey gets ready to come back to Liverpool. The Privateers Junior ‘B’ hockey team unveiled their new logo and jerseys today to about 60 people at Queens Place Emera Centre. Fans also had a chance to hear from the general manager, one of the players and a member of the ownership group, Jim Bottomley. Bottomley says it was an easy choice to bring the team to Liverpool. He says, “It’s a great community, just the passion and the turnout for this was unbelievable to see the fans come out, and the support we’ve been getting. I was getting a lot of calls from people saying to come down here and it’s going to be good.” Bottomley and two other partners supported the move to Liverpool from St. Margaret’s. Tryouts open September 2nd with the regular season starting a few weeks later. The Liverpool Privateers home opener is pegged for Saturday September 20 against Glace Bay.
