It appears the Walk In Clinic at Chester’s Our Health Centre will be able to maintain its full-time hours after all.
Last week we reported the clinic would have to cut their open hours in half because no doctor was available to cover the shift.
With a couple of doctors on vacation, they would only open two days a week.
General Manager Lorraine Burch says another doctor had volunteered to fill in, but because she on salary, her contract wouldn’t permit her to do so.
Since then, the department responsible, has made an exception.
“In this case, obviously, the Department of Health and Wellness made a three-month, they’re calling it an exclusion to her APP contract that will allow her to work the walk-in clinic. So it’s a wonderful thing.”
Burch says she understands the stress of trying to provide enough doctors, and commends the department on their decision.
“It’s a big complicated problem, I don’t dismiss that for a minute. I think it’s difficult for them. But this was a local solution to a local problem and they were able to be flexible enough to make it happen.”
The Our Health Centre walk-in clinic will remain open:
Tuesdays 9:30am – 1:30pm
Wednesdays 1:00pm – 5:00pm
Fridays 2:30pm – 6:30pm
Saturdays 9:00am – 1:00pm
