Premier Stephen MacNeil says they will finish the Bluenose II rebuild project – despite it’s $10 million over its forecasted budget. However, he says serious questions surrounding the project need to be answered. MacNeil says the five year rebuild project has been challenging and changed hands three times under different governments – include the Conservatices, NDP and now his Liberals. MacNeil made the comments in Cookville while attending an event with federal Liberal leader Justin Trudeau. Sea trials on the Bluenose are expected to take place in the fall. MacNeil says they are hopeful the schooner will be cleared for public sailing tours next summer.
