Liverpool’s Chelsea Whalen picked up a silver medal Friday night in the women’s 4kg shot-put event at the Canadian Track and Field Championships. Whalen had a top throw of 16.20 metres, good enough for second place behind defending champion and Olympian Julie Labonte. The 20-year-old will now turn her focus to the women’s javelin championship, which gets underway at 6:15 Saturday evening in Moncton.
