Will June be a month full of frost?

Growing up gardening the rule was always to wait for the “full moon in June” before setting out transplants that don’t survive frost. The old saying was that until the moon is full in June we were not guaranteed to be frost free.

The old saying “wait for the full moon in June to plant” is a popular gardening rule of thumb used to avoid the last spring frost.

I have to say that this concerns me this year.
The full moon was last night, May 31st… The next full moon is June 29th!
I sure hope the old saying does not hold true for 2026. If it is true, we will have one super shore growing season.
The Farmers Almanac gives me hope as they are predicting the final spring frost to be Friday.

Now the planting calendar is still saying that tomatoes should only be set out on June 19th.
I don’t think I will rush getting the delicate plants outside and hope for enough rain with the warmth this year to make it a good growing season. Green thumbs crossed!
