Will Your House Still Be Decorated For Christmas In 2021?

I hope you had a very Merry Christmas and now we are in that awkward few days between the festive season and the new year. Each night you see fewer Christmas lights as we prepare to welcome the new year and each year I battle with when should the decorations come down? I am a fan of the tree in the house and the warmth that a home decorated for Christmas brings, so I am never in a rush, but my wife wants her house back to normal. So I went looking to see which is correct, thinking there is no actual time that decorations should be packed away by, turns out I was wrong.

When to take down your Christmas decorations and tree, according to tradition

So if you don’t follow the tradition of removing the Christmas look from your home “in time”, is that really a big deal? Depends on who you are asking, some argue the decorations need to be gone by the new year to prevent bad luck following us to 2021.

There is also an argument that since this year has been so dark, leaving Christmas lights up longer is needed.

The case for keeping Christmas lights up a little longer this winter

So as with most questions I take to the internet, there seem to be lots of ideas and reasons for decorations to be left up AND taken down. Whether you are taking things down by Friday, leaving things looking festive until next Wednesday, or plan to have things looking Christmassy until February… this year, no one will judge you.
