Woman Bitten, Injured After Dog Breaks Free From Leash

A woman was injured last weekend after a large dog broke free from its leash and bit her.

Bridgewater Police Service says they responded to an incident on October 27 when a woman in her 70s was injured while walking with friends on Victoria Road.

Police say an initial investigation determined a large, brown pit bull type dog broke free from its owner’s leash and lunged at her and caused her to fall on the street.

She was also bitten during the incident.

Police and By-law Enforcement have seized the dog under the Town of Bridgewater Dog By-law.

The investigation is on going and charges are pending.
