Woman Wins Human Rights Case Against Sobeys

A Nova Scotia woman has won her human rights case against the Sobeys Group.

Andrella David was discriminated against on the basis of her race when she was wrongfully accused of shoplifting by a Sobeys employee at the Tantallon store.

That was the finding of Marion Hill, the chair of the independent human right board of inquiry.

David will receive $21,000 from the Sobeys Group as well as a written apology.

Sobeys must also participate in training with respect to racial profiling, discrimation and perceived source of income.
