Two Lunenburg County residents have teamed up to help create awareness for ALS. Janet Eisnor and Sarah Wentzell organized an ice bucket challenge in Bridgewater Wednesday night. Both women have had family tragedies because of the disease. Eisnor lost her father in 2010 while Wentzell lost her grandfather 14 years ago. Eisnor feels her dad would be touched by the moment. She says, “He would be happy because he was a very outgoing man, very strong individual and he was very community-oriented as well and to see the community and the people are pulling together to do things like this, I think he would be very happy and very proud.” Wentzell feels her grandfather would be proud as well. She says, “It’s tough because Janet and I have both witnessed a lot of horrible things as losing loved ones to this disease but I think he’s smiling up above.” The ice bucket challenge has been sweeping social media and aims to promote ALS and donate money towards research. Bridgewater’s police chief, a town councillor and a paramedic supervisor also took part in the challenge.
