Young women from across the country are will occupy parliament next April.
Equal Voice, an organization dedicated to electing more women to all levels of political office in Canada are set to repeat their Daughters of the Vote program.
It gives participants the opportunity to sit in their MP’s chair for a day.
The program was first launched in 2017 to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday.
Chair of Equal Voice Nova Scotia, Pamela Lovelace wants to change the conversation around women in politics.
“Making it a much more welcome environment so that young women basically have the courage and the excitement and the inspiration from one another to make policy changes that impact their lives.”
Lovelace says that mission extends into the parties themselves.
“We want political parties to recognize their role in mentoring young women. And that’s what Daughters of the Vote does. It really changes the conversation about the importance of political parties welcoming women into their parties.”
Applications are being accepted until November 22 and the selected candidate will take their seat in Parliament in April 2019.
Applications are open for #DaughtersoftheVote. If you are a young woman leader between the ages of 18-23 consider applying to be a part of this fantastic initiative https://t.co/2RD9ItzS0r @EqualVoiceCA @EqualVoiceNS
