Seniors can often find themselves in vulnerable situations.
The goal of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is to spark a conversation about some of the issues they’re facing.
Frank Fawson with the Lunenburg Senior Safety Program says while there are many risks facing seniors financial abuse often goes overlooked.
“A senior gets a phone call and oh your son is in trouble and they need some money and you have to send it right away or they’re going to be in jail and a lot of seniors are falling victim to that.”

Other types of abuse affecting seniors can include physical, mental and neglect.
Fawson says the program is working year round to find solutions.
