Worries Over Trade Dispute Further Delay Forestry Review – Premier

The ongoing trade dispute with the United States may have contributed to the delay of the independent review of the province’s forestry practices.

William Lahey has completed his review and handed it over to government, after requesting an extension earlier this year.

However since government received it in May, they have yet to release it.

In a recent interview with Acadia News, Premier Stephen McNeil said they sent the report to lawyers in the US to look it over.

He says government didn’t want to put softwood lumber issues into jeopardy.

When asked if that’s regarding American tariffs, the premier said yes.

However, McNeil believes the report will be available soon.
