There is more flap over the Nova Scotia to New England ferry service
But Yarmouth’s mayor is taking it in stride and is confident there will be ferry service between Yarmouth and Bar Harbor this summer.
This morning, Business Minister Geoff MacLellan told reporters following a cabinet meeting that if U-S officials don’t approve work that’s being done at the Bar Harbor terminal, the Cat ferry won’t run.
Pam Mood remains optimistic.
“This isn’t in Nova Scotia. It’s on the U.S. side. We just need to pull together on this. We know the province is doing absolutely everything they can to turn this around so I trust them to do its job. We’ve been through an awful lot and we can only control what we can control.”
Bay Ferries already announced the earliest date on which the service could commence is mid-summer.
That’s because the construction and approvals processes had stretched on longer than hoped and all that must be approved by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
The Cat is expected in Yarmouth in the next few days, according to Bay Ferries.
