This year’s Nova Scotia-Maine ferry season begins June 1st.
Downtown businesses in Yarmouth are preparing to do some .. “sprucing up”!
Mayor Pam Mood says things got run-down along Main Street in the five years the ferry wasn’t operating.
Now, there’s a move to improve the town’s overall appearance.
The Mayor says: “The Town of Yarmouth has put some money up and started the facade program. So what happens is, we will match up to five thousand dollars for those businesses on Main Street that want to improve their facades.”
Mayor Mood also says there’s a lot of interest in the business community to cash-in on the town’s offer.
She says the facade program will make the area more appealing to American visitors and those from elsewhere too.
