Boys Day Works To Bring Out The Best In Young Men

A generation of boys were inspired by male role models from across the county yesterday.

Petite Riviere Elementary School hosted boys in grade 4, 5 and 6 from Newcombville, Pentz and West Northfield for the second annual Boys Day.

Organizer Kristy Boutilier says showing boys their value as people at a young age is key creating a positive self-image.

“It’s like teaching children how to read. You want to start that at a young age. So if you want to teach a child to really take care of themselves and that social/emotional piece, you’ve got to start young too.”

Boutilier says the sessions empowers boys to stand up to peer pressure.

“We really need to have our boys in that mental state of really knowing who they are and being respectful of themselves. And if they love themselves and are respectful of themselves they’re going to show that to whomever they encounter.”

Boutilier says the day will teach lessons the boys can carry through their lives.
