As we wait on the effects of Hurricane Teddy, the folks at the Old Farmers Almanac are likely looking at their predictions for this month saying, “we were so close”. Looking at their predictions, they were either a week off, or we have something bigger coming next week.
SEPTEMBER 2020 LONG RANGE WEATHER FORECAST FOR ATLANTIC CANADA
With all the warnings issued for today, it looks like it could be a wild ride over the next 24 to 48 hours. Hopefully you have things tied down and have covered what you what to keep dry. This is the first big weather event of this year’s active hurricane season, so a good chance to check the flashlights, service the generator and start thinking storm mode on this first day of fall. Winter storms are just around the corner.
If we want to trust the predictions of the Farmers Almanac for the winter, the second week of January 2021 could be particularly messy.
“We are red-flagging the second week of January over Ontario and Quebec for a possible heavy snowfall with a wintry mix for the Maritimes, and another for the second week of February for possible blizzard conditions in the Maritimes.”
Farmers’ Almanac Winter 2025-2026 Extended Weather Forecast (Canada)
Whether you believe predictions or not around the weather, you can’t ignore storms when they are here.
Teddy expected to hit Atlantic Canada as post-tropical storm
Stay safe as the most gentle named hurricane I ever remember blows through to welcome autumn and let’s be thankful to be receiving some much needed rain.
I wonder if we listen closely to the wind, will it sound like a familiar tune?
