Chandler, Conrad lead N.S. QMJHL draft class

Two Bluenosers were taken in the first round of Saturday’s QMJHL Draft.

Forward Cole Chandler was selected by the Shawinigan Cataractes 16th overall, he played for Dartmouth Steele Subaru in the Nova Scotia U18 Major League this season.

Defender Owen Conrad of the Weeks U18 program in Pictou County was drafted 20th overall by the Charlottetown Islanders.

The Cape Breton Eagles picked Berwick’s Luke Foley 24th overall.

The Halifax Mooseheads’ first pick was in the second round, they chose forward Liam Kilfoil who played New Brunswick Prep School hockey.

Over two-dozen Nova Scotians were drafted.

Moncton took forward Caleb Desnoyers first overall, he’s the younger brother of former Mooseheads captain Elliot Desnoyers.
