The Municipality of Barrington will be setting its tax rates later this month.
The Committee of Whole is holding a special budget meeting this Thursday, but rates won’t be set at that time.
CAO Chris Frotten says council has asked staff for information on potential capital projects.
“To help them make decisions on what our plan will look like in the next 5 to 10 years, and also, on specific services, we have an arena here and a landfill.”
Frotten says council wants to ensure the needs of communities will be well-served.
“That we’re maintaining a level of service that’s adequate for our residents but also being fiscally responsible in the way that we provide that. We have been asked to make a comparison and also a forecast of our mandatory expenses into the future.”
He says that will give council an idea of where the municipality’s tax rates and expenses compare to other jurisdictions in the province.
Barrington municipal council is expected to approve capital and operating budgets on April 23.
