VIDEO: ACOA Announces $259,000 For STELIA Aerospace

A 1,600 square foot freezer has been built at STELIA Aerospace North America in Lunenburg.

The company received a $259,000 loan from the Atlantic Canada Opprtunities Agency.

It will help store temperature sensitive materials used in production of STELIA’s composite components.

Managing Director, Claude Baril, says the extra storage will help them meet increased demand.

“At the end of the day, it is extremely competitive and we need to look at all options to reduce our costs, increase productivity, and train employees so we can compete.”

Baril says sales have increased by 75% – from $43-million in 2011 to $76-million last year.

He adds government support is critical for the company to remain competitive in the growing aerospace sector.

STELIA is Lunenburg’s largest business with roughly 460 employees.
