MODL Launching Campaign To Increase Voter Turnout

The Municipality of Lunenburg is launching an awareness campaign to teach people about what exactly local government does.

Public meetings are being held where people can come learn anything from what goes on at a council meeting to how e-voting works.

Deputy CAO Alex Dumaresq says individuals need to make sure their voices are being heard.

“Every council meeting there’s fifteen minutes of public input,” he says, “and anyone can come and have their say on anything they see on the agenda or anything that’s on their mind that has to do with local government.

Dumaresq says the ultimate goal is to see voter turn out go up.

The first meeting is next Tuesday in the Blockhouse fire hall at 6:30 p.m.
