Support Helping Local MLA Get Back To Work

The MLA for Chester-St. Margaret’s is working to get back on her feet.

Denise Peterson-Rafuse was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis this spring.

She was hospitalized for 17 days and has been receiving treatment since.

“It’s hard to change with the snap of a finger,” says Peterson-Rafuse. “One day you’re going full speed and the next day you’re in neutral.”

The speaker excused Peterson-Rafuse from the recent sitting of the legislature to allow her to rest.

Peterson Rafuse says she’s working with her doctors to find a way to manage her MS.

Meanwhile, she says, she got involved with politics to help people and sees no reason to stop now.

With the help of her office staff she continues to work from home.

Peterson-Rafuse says she’s grateful for the support she’s received.

“I got so much support it was just heartwarming and it really gives me the encouragement to get myself better.”

Peterson-Rafuse says she plans to run again when the next election is called.
