A community hub in Queens County is getting big help from all three levels of government.
A federal grant of more than $41,000 for Milton Memorial Hall was announced by MP Bernadette Jordan this morning.
That’s on top of $15,000 from the province and another $1,200 from the Region.
Jordan says seeing the three levels of government collaborating is a sign of things to come.
“I think you’re going to see a lot more working together,” she says. “We recognize that it’s really the communities that should decide where they want to see their development, to say this is what we want to focus on.”
She adds it’s nice to see the money go somewhere it will be appreciated.
“I really like making announcements in small communities where $40,000 makes a huge difference. In some places that wouldn’t be a big deal, but in rural Nova Scotia? It’s a really big deal.”
The money is going towards fixing water issues and making the building more energy efficient.
Work has already begun.
