Chester Food Bank Re-opens

All’s well that ends well.

After two years of uncertainty the Lighthouse Food Bank in Chester has re-opened in their brand new facility.

The service has been on unsteady ground since the municipality asked them to vacate the spot they’ve occupied for almost two decades.

Chair, Wendy Sheppard says now that they’re settled they can think about expanding their services.

“Well, we other projects that have sort of been on hold over the last couple of years,” she says. “So, we have some ideas for changing some of the things we do.”

Sheppard says $20,000 was donated by the municipality to help with renovations.

She adds, in the long run the new facility will help them serve their clients better.
