The Tri-County Regional School Board wants to hear from the public about Dr. Avis Glaze’s report.
Board members are planning to host an open town hall meeting before the end of the month, with details still to be finalized.
At last night’s monthly meeting, board members again voiced their displeasure that the recommendations of the report on education administration in Nova Scotia will be adopted by the province.
It means the English speaking school boards will be eliminated in favour of a provincial advisory board.
Board Superintendent Paul Ash is expected to become a regional Executive Director once the legislation passes.
Ash says staff members were extremely apprehensive about the recommendations at first.
“We met with our central office staff as well as our principals. We tried to get the message out to our teaching staff that there were not going to be any layoffs or loss of jobs, which was one of their main concerns.”
Ash says the job of the staff won’t change as they continue to support students and their overall improvement in the education system.
Education Minister Zach Churchill will introduce the legislation to amend the Education Act this spring.
