Mahone Bay’s Deputy Mayor Takes Leave Of Absence

David Devenne says he had a mini stroke back in the spring and his doctors gave him little choice but to take time off.

He says it’s not just council that is contributing to his high stress level.

He’s also actively part of 13 different committees including The Wooden Boat Society and manages the Mahone Bay Civic Marina.

“You know, my high blood pressure and everything else is all a result of everything that I’m involved in. The Marina, in particular, is a very busy place in the spring and the summer.”

Devenne has been retired from the public service for ten years, but says he’s been actively involved in the community and council for most of that time.

Devenne’s leave of absence continues through the end December when he will reassess.
