Barrington Searching For Internet Solution

The Municipality of Barrington is looking for alternatives to provide high speed internet to its communities.

Council heard Tuesday night about other towns in Canada who have created their own broadband network.

But, Warden Eddie Nickerson says they’re not ready to move on to “plan B.”

“We still believe it’s Eastlink’s responsibility after getting a good chunk of money from the provincial government to provide internet to 100 per cent of Nova Scotia.”

Nickerson says they’ll keep looking for other options and continue to pressure Eastlink to fulfill their promise.

The company was given $34-million in 2007 to provide high speed internet province-wide.
