Saturday Local Sports: October 17

In High School Hockey, the Bridgewater Vikings boys team fell 6-3 to the Central Kings Gators. Also, the Park View Panthers boys team topped West Kings 5-2. Aiden O’Brien scored twice while Riley Merry, Alex Wentzell and Jacob Robar also had goals.

The South Shore Lumberjacks are getting closer to first place in the MHL’s Eastlink Division. The Jacks beat Amherst 5-1 last night in Bridgewater. Brandon Syms and Cray Roberge each scored twice while Alex Rawding added the other goal. Bailey Stephens stopped 35 shots in the win. The ‘Jacks sit one point back of Truro for top spot. The Lumberjacks try for their fourth win in a row tonight when they travel to Amherst. It’s the second game of a home-and-home series between the two teams.

In major midget hockey tonight, the Charlie’s Pizza South Shore Mustangs host the Cape Breton West Islanders. Game time is 7 p.m at the Clearwater Seafoods Arena.

In Nova Scotia Junior ‘B’ Hockey, the Liverpool Privateers look for their first win of the season when they host Cumberland. Puck drop is 7:30 this evening at Queens Place.

The Halifax Mooseheads host Acadie-Bathurst at 7 p.m at Scotiabank Centre.
