International Students Attracted To South Shore

Nova Scotia is home to the largest international student homestay program in the country.

People in Bridgewater were introduced over the weekend to many of the 132 students who have come to study here in the South Shore.

Program Director Carolyn Bolivar-Getson says having them here is having a huge effect on diversity in their schools.

“When I go to Park View and Hebbville now, it’s wonderful to see everyone sitting together at a table, communicating, sharing experiences. It’s just a different culture altogether.”

Bolivar-Getson says about 10% of international students who graduate in Nova Scotia will stay to complete university.
