Volunteers Create Chemotherapy Caps For Journey Room

An entire day of sewing helped create dozens of chemotherapy caps for cancer patients.

A number of volunteers collaborated and made 64 caps to use in the journey room at South Shore Regional Hospital.

Lynn’s Quilting Studio in Auburndale provided about 22 metres of fabric.

Owner Lynn Jones says they used natural fabrics for the project.

“No seams on the inside so there would be no aggravation to the scalp of the person wearing it. We used 100% cotton and other good quality fabric.”

Jones says they tried to use bright colors to cheer people up or keep them happy.

She adds she enjoys donating items to the hospital.

“We were looking at something different and something worthy that people needed and maybe has not been focused on.”

She says a number of local businesses and the Lilly Foundation helped finance the project.
