Swimming Pool Being Discussed In Liverpool

A potential swimming pool could make a splash in Liverpool.

The Queens Community Aquatic Society presented the idea to the Region of Queens.

The cost to build the pool is roughly $2-million, with another $3-million being raised to cover operations for about 20 years.

Mayor Christopher Clarke says a consultant report is due back to council in January.

“We want to end up with real numbers. We don’t want to raise public expectations based on numbers that aren’t sustainable.”

An assessment from 2007 suggests 91 per cent of people in the community want a pool.

The 25-metre, four lane pool would be built under a dome near Queens Place Emera Centre.
