Arts Nova Scotia Director Chris Shore says there is a wide range of activity in Lunenburg including a school of music, art galleries, festivals and the NSCAD residency program.
“It really is all about how does a community embrace arts and culture and certainly Lunenburg is an excellent example of how a community does that.”
The Lunenburg Academy of Musical Performance nominated the town, who will receive a certificate and a cheque for $10,000 .
Shore says the money has a purpose.
“To continue the integration of arts and culture in the community. It’s up to the town to spend it but the whole intent of it is as an incentive to keep doing the work that they’re doing.”
Both the cheque and certificate will be presented to Mayor Rachel Bailey during a ceremony on Saturday evening in Halifax.
