I’ve Been Grocery Shopping Wrong

My only regular public trips in the last 9 months have been my visits to the grocery store every two weeks, and it turns out I’ve been worrying about the wrong things.

I hate touching the grocery cart handles. Turns out, thanks to scrupulous wiping down by staff, that the handles are probably the cleanest, safest things you’ll touch all day.

Freezer door handles, or the other end of the grocery cart are way more likely to carry bacteria or virus.

But the most likely point of contact between you and the virus is the debit pad at the checkout. Time for me to start carrying hand sanitizer into the store to use after paying.

Here’s one of the most frustrating things I’ve experienced. In the produce department, when you pull off one of those flimsy bags how do you get them open without licking your fingers?

I haven’t tried this yet, but a great hack I’ve heard about is placing both palms on either side of the part that is supposed to open and rubbing your palms back and forth in opposite directions and the bag will open up. I’m going to put this into use later this week.

Got any shopping tips to stay safe?
