Argyle-Barrington Liberals Prepare For Possible Byelection

Charlene LeBlanc has been chosen by the Argyle-Barrington Liberal Association to be their candidate in the next next byelection.

LeBlanc won uncontested at Thursday night’s nomination meeting at the West Pubnico Legion.

In a release, Premier Stephen McNeil says “We are very excited to have Charlene join the team.”

While no byelection has been called yet, if Chris d’Entremont, the current MLA, wins the Conservative nomination in the federal riding of West Nova, he must resign his seat in the provincial Legislature.

The Conservative’s nomination period for West Nova is underway in advance of this fall’s federal election.

Nomination’s close Thursday, May 16.

As of Thursday May 9 there were three candidates seeking the nomination: Chris d’Entremont, Hannah Dawson-Murphy and Dan Mullen.

Nova Scotia’s Electoral Boundaries Commission has recommended that, in the next provincial election, the Argyle-Barrington riding return to the Acadian-designated riding of Argyle as well as a return to the former riding of Shelburne.

The Conservative’s nomination period for West Nova is underway in advance of this fall’s federal election.

Nomination’s close Thursday, May 16 and the nomination meeting is tentatively scheduled for June 21 in Yarmouth with a location yet to be determined.
