One of the hottest trends in the province is setting up shop in Lunenburg.
Shipwright Brewing Company will be taking its place on Montague street.
It’s the brainchild of Adam Bower, the same man who owns the Grand Banker.
He is making space above the restaurant for the equipment and has recently hired fellow Lunenburg native Kellye Robertson as brewmaster.
Bower says he has an eye to starting small.
“We’re opening at a scale that is just looking at providing beer to our local area. And I really think that every town in Nova Scotia can support that.”
Bower says brewing is a passion for him.
“People are excited to see some new things happening, and I just love doing it in my hometown. I wouldn’t want to do this in any other place. I’ve always wanted to make my way back to Lunenburg and it’s exciting bringing all these things to my hometown that I’m so proud of.”
Bower says construction is beginning on the brewery today.
He hopes to have beer on tap by Canada Day.
