Barrington: Boat Captain Pulled Overboard, Dies In Fishing Accident

A Shag Harbour lobster fisherman has died after falling overboard yesterday.

Captain Larry Wayne Sears was pulled into the water off Cape Sable Island.

RCMP say he was setting traps when the trawl line got tangled in the hauler – the 64 year-old attempted to clear the snarl and was pulled overboard.

Sears was taken out of the water by the crew of a nearby boat.

Members of the Canadian Coast Guard performed CPR but it was too late.

Sears was pronounced dead when brought ashore last night.

The fishing vessel he captained is called “Four Ladies”.
