Big Renovations In The Works For Chester Playhouse

A theatre in Lunenburg County will be getting a $400-thousand renovation.

The Chester Playhouse is looking to build an extension that will add around 1,200 square feet of extra space.

Executive Director Eric Bickerdike says the theatre is an important asset.

“The theatre itself is really an economic driver for the Village of Chester,” he says, “for tourism, for local events, for community events, and we’re just expanding our options.”

Most of the funding is being provided through federal and provincial grants.

However, Bickerdike says he has asked the municipality to invest $20-thousand.

Construction is expected to begin this fall.
