Bluenose II Helps People Embrace Their Inner Deckhand

Looking to trade in your “landlubber card” for an official set of sea-legs?

Bluenose II is offering the chance for 10 people to become deck hands for a day.

Acting Director of Operations, Alan Creaser, says it’s a great chance to learn about the day to day operation of the famous schooner.

“They scrub the decks, they handle all our lines,” he says, “putting the sails up taking them down, they steer the vessel. So anybody who signs on has an opportunity to do all those jobs.”

Creaser says it’s a full day of sailing from Lunenburg to Mahone Bay and back.

“A wonderful day of good fresh salt air and lots of sunshine and it zaps your energy.”

The program has seen two successful weekends so far this summer.

The last chance to participate this year is September 4th.
