A large garage has been destroyed by fire in Martins River.
Ten Lunenburg County fire departments responded to the scene Thursday afternoon along Highway 3.
A black cloud of smoke filled the air as crews arrived to the fully involved structure.
The fire, which was reported around 2:40 p.m, kept crews busy for at least six hours.
A DNR helicopter was brought in to drop water as fire spread to nearby woods.
However, firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze before the helicopter was needed.
A cause has not been determined.
Some firefighters were expected to check-in overnight to monitor the scene.
