Bonny Lea Farm has started its annual fundraising efforts and this year, they’re mailing it in.
A postcard campaign is underway, encouraging people to support the organization’s work for adults with disabilities.
Liz Finney with Bonny Lea Farm says everyone needs a purpose.
“The belief in Bonny Lea Farm that a lot of members of the community have as well, is the importance of everybody having the ability to experience respect and dignity in their everyday life.”
The money raised supports work experience programs such as making kindling and cleaning cloths, which are sold through many local businesses.
Finney says the work means a lot to the participants.
“It’s having purpose, it’s knowing that there are people counting on you to do something. And it’s having a skill that you enjoy using. It’s being with your friends and colleagues.”
Last year the fundraising campaign collected $40,000 and Finney says they hope to exceed that number this year.
