One of three fishermen that fell overboard off the coast of Yarmouth this morning has died.

Barrington RCMP say a 53 year-old Cape Breton man passed away in hospital.

The incident happened around 9 a.m. He was setting lobster traps when he fell overboard.

Crew members pulled him out of the water and called the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre for help.

The man was later flown to Yarmouth Regional Hospital.

Two other men were also rescued today after falling overboard from a different vessel.

The RCMP, Transportation Safety Board and Department of Labour and Advanced Education are investigating.

The TSB identifies the vessels as the Cockawit Lady and Nomada Queen 1.

Kelly Regan, Minister of Labour and Advanced Education, says she’s saddened by the accident.

She is offering her condolences to the man’s family.
