A new energy laboratory is being developed in Bridgewater.
Essentially it’s a think tank of local business owners and community leaders who will be work-shopping how to integrate green technology into the town.
Sustainability Planner Leon de Vreede says the process will be driven by the participants.
“Somebody wants to try a new type of vehicle that uses a new type of fuel? Wow, I think everybody would want to know how that goes,” he says. “We want to learn together and it’s okay even to make mistakes.”
de Vreede says the key will be to learn from each other.
“We want to figure out how the community can really maximize its benefits. The best way to do that is to get together, talk to each other about what’s already working well, figure out what we can learn together, and bring in some experts for when we don’t know the answer.”
The group will also work together to find funding for the projects through grants and even crowd funding.
The first meeting takes place at 8 o’clock Tuesday morning at the NSCC campus.
de Vreede says they will meet every two months for the next year and a half.
