Bridgewater: Final Debate For Local Candidates

It was one last chance to get a sense of who to vote for in the upcoming federal election.

Five of six candidates spoke to about 200 people Thursday evening at the Best Western in Cookville.

Liberal Bernadette Jordan focused on local as the choice to represent the riding.

“My goal isn’t to be Ottawa’s voice here. It is to be your voice in Ottawa.”

Alex Godbold says the NDP is the party that comes right up the middle.

“So many Canadians want a truly progressive party and I feel the NDP is that progressive choice. The Liberals technically campaign from the left and govern to the right. This is true both provincially and federally.”

While Conservative Richard Clark targeted his opponents’ promises as being financially irresponsible.

“And, we would incur massive new deficits for no reason other than the Liberals and the NDP have a lust for power”

Communist party candidate Ryan Barry said Canada is dominated by a Capitalist system while Trevor Bruhm urged people to talk about the future of the offshore oil industry.

Green Party candidate Richard Biggar was not present.

The event was hosted by the Bridgewater and Area Chamber of Commerce.
