More Charges Laid After Puppies Rescued From Dartmouth Home

Dozens of pitbulls, including several newborns, were found in a home in North Preston.

The dogs were confined in unsanitary conditions filled with feces and no protection from the heat or cold.

Makell Aaron Cain was charged on October 4th with four counts under the Animal Protection Act.

Spokesperson for the SPCA Courtney Zylstra says his son has now been charged as well.

“18 year-old Warren Cain, along with his father, are both facing the same four charges including failing to provide enough water, protection from heat and cold, inadequate space and unsanitary conditions.

The two will appear in court next month.

The dogs are now being cared for by staff and volunteers at the Nova Scotia SPCA.

The SPCA has received many phone calls asking about how people can help. They are hoping they will be adopted out once the investigation has wrapped up.

In the meantime, the non-profit organization welcomes donations that will help cover the cost of caring for the puppies and dogs. Please go their website for more details. http://spcans.ca/
