An outdoor space in Bridgewater will officially open on Friday.
A grand opening for Pijinuiskaq Park on King Street in the downtown will start at 4 p.m.
The park is believed to be the only street, facility or public space in Bridgewater to bear a Mi’kmaq name.
The space was created as part of the town’s Take Back The Riverbank project.
The $5-million investment also included installing new water, wastewater and storm water lines and revitalizing a two-block stretch of the downtown.
Money for the project came from the town, and the provincial and federal governments.
The park’s grand opening will include a Mi’kmaq smudging ceremony, speeches by dignitaries and live music.
