There are some proud grandparents in Dayspring following the NHL draft.
Cole Fraser was selected in the fifth round, 131st overall by the Detroit Red Wings last Saturday.
His grandparents, Betty and Carmen Fraser, admit they aren’t diehard hockey fans.
But, they plan on paying close attention to hopefully one day see Cole in a red wings uniform.
“He was a good player but we were always uptight watching games to see how he was going to come out and we didn’t want to see him get hurt.”
Cole didn’t play hockey in the South Shore but Carmen says he always kept busy while visiting Lunenburg County.
“We took him fishing, took him hunting and to the beach and toured Lunenburg County.”
The proud grandparents say Cole’s parents deserve credit for sacrificing time to attend games and early morning practices over the years and covering the cost of minor hockey.
The Dayspring couple didn’t have a favourite NHL team but will start cheering for the Red Wings from now on.
